Chukwu to Deliver Keynote at SUPERNEWS Nigeria AI Conference 2025
Johnson Chukwu, Managing Director and CEO of Cowry Asset Management Limited, has been announced as the keynote speaker for the upcoming SUPERNEWS Nigeria Artificial Intelligence (AI) Conference 2025. The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 19th, 2025, at the Oriental Hotel on Lekki Road, Victoria Island, Lagos, beginning at 10 a.m.
Chukwu will address the theme, **”Power of AI: Enhancing Efficiency and Customer Satisfaction for Better Financial Services.”** His presentation will explore how AI technologies are transforming the financial sector by improving operational efficiency and fostering improved customer experiences.
Joining him as distinguished speakers are Mrs. Adeolu Adewumi-Zer, Founder and CEO of ZER Consulting Africa; Mrs. Thaibat Adeniran, former Managing Director of Hilal Takaful Insurance Limited; Dr. Uju Ogubunka, National President of the Bank Customers Association of Nigeria (BCAN); and Mr. Ayokunle Olubunmi, Head of Financial Institutions Ratings at Augusto & Co.
According to Ngozi Onyeakusi, publisher of SUPERNEWS Nigeria and convener of the conference, selecting Mr. Chukwu as the keynote speaker underscores his extensive professional background, diverse expertise, and deep understanding of Nigeria’s financial landscape and economy.
Mr. Johnson Chukwu is the founder and chairman of Cowry Asset Management Limited. Prior to establishing Cowry Asset, he played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s capital market, notably serving as the pioneer General Manager and CEO of Guardian Express Trust Limited (now Spring Capital), a subsidiary of Guardian Express Bank Plc (now Spring Bank Plc).
Before joining Cowry Asset full-time in October 2007, he worked as Deputy General Manager and Group Executive, Operations at Spring Bank Plc from February 2006 to September 2007. His banking career also includes positions at Diamond Bank Plc and Intercontinental Bank Plc, where he gained experience in credit, marketing, treasury, financial control, and branch operations.
Mr. Chukwu holds a B.Sc. in Accounting with Second Class Upper honors from the University of Lagos and an MBA from Lagos Business School (Pan African University). He is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation. His professional development includes courses at IESE Business School in Spain and Wharton Business School in the USA.
The conference, chaired by Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga, Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, will bring together regulators, financial services stakeholders, ICT sector representatives, informal sector participants, and small business owners.
The event aims to showcase how AI is redefining the financial industry—driving automation, enhancing customer engagement, improving risk management, and preventing fraud.
