ABAN and StartupSouth Collaborate to Host African Startup Investment Roundtable in Owerri
The African Business Angel Network (ABAN) and StartupSouth Enterprise Development LTD/GTE (#StartupSouth) have announced a strategic partnership to co-host the upcoming African Startup Investment Roundtable scheduled for September 30, 2025, in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria. This event will serve as a prelude to the ABAN Congress 2025, which is set to take place from October 17 to 18, 2025. The roundtable aims to foster dialogue among key stakeholders in Africa’s startup ecosystem and is a core component of the #StartupSouthX gathering, celebrating Nigeria’s South-East region’s entrepreneurial momentum.
This collaboration signifies a pivotal step toward strengthening local investment participation across Africa, with a focus on Nigeria’s South-East. The event will convene angel investors, startup founders, policymakers, and ecosystem leaders to explore opportunities for increased capital flows, regional collaboration, and innovative development initiatives.
The partnership will catalyse efforts to:
- Mobilise local and diaspora capital to support high-growth African startups
- Launch the Imo Business Angel Network (IBAN)
- Showcase investment-ready ventures from South-East Nigeria and beyond
- Foster cross-border collaboration among investors and ecosystem enablers
- Position Imo State as a leading model for sub-national, innovation-led development
- Contribute critical insights and momentum to the main ABAN Congress on 17 – 18 October 2025
