Airtel Africa Signs Multi-Year Deal with Xtelify to Enhance Digital Capabilities and Combat Fraud

Airtel Africa has announced a multi-year, multi-million dollar partnership with Xtelify, a fully owned subsidiary of Bharti Airtel that consolidates all of Airtel’s digital assets and capabilities. This collaboration aims to leverage Xtelify’s innovative, AI-powered digital platform to accelerate Airtel Africa’s digital transformation across its 14 markets.
Xtelify recently launched a comprehensive software platform designed to simplify telecom operations, enhance customer experience, and enable data-driven decision-making. The platform features a converged data engine for AI-led insights, a workforce management system for real-time task optimization, and a customer experience platform that manages every touchpoint of the customer journey.
Under the partnership, Xtelify will provide its suite of platforms—Data Engine, Work, and IQ—to empower Airtel Africa’s 150,000-strong field team. The Data Engine and Work modules will deliver critical market insights for targeted strategies and help combat issues such as spam and fraud, thereby strengthening customer protection across the continent. Xtelify IQ will facilitate secure, omnichannel, real-time customer engagement, improving service quality and satisfaction.
Jacques Barkhuizen, Group CIO of Airtel Africa, stated, “This partnership marks a transformative step in building Africa’s digital future. By leveraging Airtel’s AI capabilities, we aim to simplify operations and deliver hyper-personalized experiences to our customers. This synergy will foster sustainable growth, innovation, and value across our 14 markets.”
Binod Srivastava, Chief Business Officer of Bharti Airtel’s Global Business, added, “Partnering with Airtel Africa allows us to extend our innovative Xtelify platform to address industry challenges like spam, fraud, and customer protection. We’re excited to collaborate on setting new industry standards and driving impactful digital transformation.”
In addition, Xtelify has launched ‘Airtel Cloud,’ a sovereign, telco-grade cloud platform initially designed to handle 140 crore transactions per minute for Airtel India. This highly secure, scalable cloud service, hosted on next-generation sustainable data centres and managed by 300 certified experts, offers IaaS, PaaS, and advanced connectivity solutions. It ensures seamless migration, lower costs, and eliminates vendor lock-ins, supporting India’s evolving business needs.
