MAPOLY Alumni Gather in Abeokuta for 2025 National Convention and Leadership Election
A vibrant assembly of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) alumni from across Nigeria and the global diaspora is set to convene in Abeokuta on Saturday, May 24, 2025, for the biennial national convention of the MAPOLY Alumni Association (MAPALUM). Delegates representing Lagos, Abeokuta, Remo, the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, and other regions will participate in this important event, which aims to strengthen alumni engagement, elect new leadership, and promote projects that benefit students and the institution.
A key highlight of the convention will be the election of a new National Executive Council (NEC), signifying a leadership transition that promises to influence the future direction of MAPALUM. Outgoing National President Ezekiel Obasanya described the gathering as a pivotal moment for reinforcing alumni commitment to MAPOLY’s growth and development.
The event will host distinguished speakers and notable dignitaries. Arch. Dr. Koyejo Jolaoso, Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, is expected to deliver the keynote address, focusing on strategies for alumni collaboration and institutional progress. Prof. Kamal Balogun, Chairman of MAPOLY’s Governing Council, will serve as the special guest of honor, while Hadj Adebisi Bada, Executive Chairman of Surry Bee Petroleum Ltd, will preside as the event’s chairman.
Dr. Goke Rauf, Rector of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, will speak on the theme “Elevating MAPOLY’s Legacy through Alumni Partnership,” emphasizing alumni roles in mentorship, infrastructure development, and academic excellence. HRH Oba Prof. Abdul-Kabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, Olota of Ota, will grace the occasion as the royal father, emphasizing the cultural link between heritage and education.
Discussions will focus on major initiatives aimed at enhancing student welfare and institutional growth, including the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) Alumni Hostel Project designed to accommodate 1,200 students, the completion of the Alumni Centre for networking and research, the launch of an Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition Scheme to boost employability, and expanded mentorship programs connecting current students with experienced alumni.
Expected attendees include prominent alumni and stakeholders such as Mr. Olalekan Otun, Chairman of the Committee for Distinguished Alumni (CODA) and Executive Director of Minds and Brains Ltd; Arch. Samson Popoola, CEO of SKP Services Ltd; veteran broadcaster Hadj Ayinde Soaga; Mr. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government; Hon. Olamide Lawal, Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Youth Development; Chief Tunde Odeyemi, Managing Director of Kabat Communication Ltd; Mr. Bola Fashina, Chief of Staff to the Chairman of National Quality Control; and Omooba Segun Adewale, Managing Director of 24/7 IMC Ltd.
