OAAN Re-elects Sola Akinsiku-Led Executive, Announces Governance Restructuring
The Out Of Home Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) successfully held its 40th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the OAAN Secretariat in Amuwo-Odofin, Lagos State, on Thursday, where the current leadership team was re-elected to steer the affairs of the association for the next two years. The re-election affirms the confidence of members in the Sola Akinsiku-led executive council.
The newly reaffirmed executive includes Mr. Sola Akinsiku as President, Mr. Omo Abunene as Vice President, Mr. Chinweuba Nwagu as Treasurer, and Mr. Babs Fagade as Publicity Secretary.
In addition, OAAN took the opportunity to announce a significant governance restructuring, introducing the position of Executive Secretary, which will now oversee the association’s administrative functions—consolidating roles previously held by the General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary.
The AGM, themed: *”Redefining Professionalism in OOH, A Path to Nation Building,”* drew members from across Nigeria and prominent industry stakeholders.
During his address, President Sola Akinsiku expressed gratitude to the Board of Trustees, council members, and members for their ongoing support. He highlighted the constitutional change abolishing the separate roles of General Secretary and Assistant General Secretary, emphasizing that the new role of Executive Secretary will streamline governance.
Reiterating the importance of electoral confidence, Mr. Akinsiku noted, “When elected, it signifies trust from our members. Our re-election reflects their confidence in our leadership and vision.”
Looking ahead, he outlined the association’s plans: “We are well-acquainted with our current challenges and progress. Our focus remains on advancing professionalism within the industry, particularly through the realization of the OAAN Charter, which is now within reach. Very soon, we will have cause for celebration.”
High-profile industry leaders, including Prince Fatiu Akiolu (Managing Director, LASAA), Mr. Akanimo Udoh (Director, DOAS Abuja), and Mr. Toba (Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency), attended the event and conveyed congratulatory messages, praising OAAN’s strides in the industry.
Other notable attendees included Sir Charles Chijide (Chairman, Board of Trustees), Chief Emmanuel Ajufo (Past President), Mrs. Brenda Nwagwu (Vice President, MIPAN), Madam Suzy Agbor (Representative of ARCON DG), and Mr. Osamede Uwubanmwen (President, ADVAN).
