Stanbic IBTC Impacts Over 5,800 Lives Through Nationwide Malaria Prevention Initiative
In celebration of World Malaria Day 2025, Stanbic IBTC has launched a comprehensive multi-state campaign aimed at reducing the prevalence of malaria, Nigeria’s leading vector-borne disease. The initiative, which commenced on April 25th in Nchatancha, Enugu East Local Government Area, continued on April 28th in Okpanam, Oshimili North LGA, Delta State, and concluded on April 30th in Wudil Ward, Wudil LGA, Kano State.
During these outreach activities, thousands of community members received free malaria testing and diagnosis. Those testing positive were promptly provided with treatment drugs. The program also featured educational talks on malaria prevention and the distribution of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs), directly benefiting over 5,800 individuals across the participating states.

This year’s theme, “Malaria ends with us: Reinvest, reimagine, reignite,” emphasizes renewed dedication to malaria prevention and control. In response, Stanbic IBTC adopted a multi-state approach targeting vulnerable communities, emphasizing the importance of sustained investment in malaria prevention efforts.
The initiative arrives at a critical juncture when intensified efforts are needed to protect at-risk populations. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there were an estimated 263 million malaria cases and approximately 597,000 deaths globally in 2023—an increase of around 11 million cases from the previous year.
Nigeria remains heavily impacted, accounting for nearly 31% of all malaria deaths in the WHO African Region. Children under five are particularly vulnerable, representing about 76% of malaria-related fatalities in the region. Prompt intervention remains vital to saving young lives.
