Stark Pages Initiative Launches Program to Inspire Nigeria’s Next Generation of Writers

The Stark Pages Creative and Literary Arts Initiative, a nonprofit organization founded by Dianah Ngamdy, has launched an ambitious new program called the Stark Pages Literary Students Initiative (LSI). This initiative is designed to spark enthusiasm for reading and creative writing among secondary school students across Nigeria.

The LSI kicked off with a dynamic series of workshops in secondary schools located in Abuja, Edo, and Lagos states. These workshops provided students with an opportunity to tap into their creativity and enhance their writing skills, all while being mentored by seasoned literary professionals.

In the second phase of the program, the LSI is calling for literary submissions from students nationwide. This contest offers a chance for participants to win cash prizes, with the top three entrants receiving awards alongside their respective schools, which will also benefit from corresponding prizes.

The final phase of the initiative culminates in the publication of an anthology that will feature the top 50 submissions, giving young writers a platform to share their unique voices and stories. This anthology will be the first in a series aimed at celebrating and amplifying the narratives of Nigeria’s youth.

Ngamdy highlighted the significance of nurturing literary talent at a young age, stating, “The literary arts should be cultivated early in one’s creative journey, and I am eager to see more secondary school students unlock their potential.”

Through the Stark Pages Literary Students Initiative, Ngamdy and her team aspire to inspire the next generation of Nigerian writers while fostering a rich culture of storytelling and literary achievement.
