The SERAS Africa Sustainability Awards Announces 2025 Theme and Entry Details

The organizers of The SERAS Africa Sustainability Awards are excited to announce the opening of entries for the 19th edition of Africa’s leading recognition platform for sustainability and corporate social responsibility. Celebrating nearly two decades of driving positive change, The SERAS continues to spotlight pioneering organizations, innovative solutions, and influential changemakers shaping Africa’s sustainable future.
The theme for 2025 is “Sustainability 2.0: Innovating for Impact and Inclusive Growth,” urging companies to go beyond reactive measures and embed sustainability into their core operations. This year’s focus also emphasizes authentic leadership, discouraging greenwashing and encouraging organizations to demonstrate genuine impact through tangible actions.
During a press briefing in Lagos, Mrs. Mary Ephraim-Egbas, Executive Director of TruCSR and Chair of The SERAS Local Organizing Committee, stated:
**“As we celebrate 19 years of The SERAS, we’re not just marking time—we’re celebrating impact. Over 18 editions, we have transformed how corporate responsibility is approached in Africa, inspiring companies to act decisively and aligning both private and public sectors with global ESG standards. This award continues to set the benchmark.”**
Since its inception, over 5,367 organizations across 27 African countries have participated, with the awards recognizing excellence across diverse categories such as circular economy, climate action, environmental stewardship, water and sanitation, stakeholder engagement, gender equality, food security, financial inclusion, education, health, workplace practices, poverty alleviation, innovation, rural development, and supply chain management.
The awards also honor partnership excellence, infrastructure development, transparency and reporting, and celebrate outstanding contributions from non-profits, social enterprises, and media outlets excelling in sustainability reporting. The coveted title of Most Responsible Organization in Africa was awarded in 2024 to Zenith Bank, among a competitive field including NNPC Foundation, AbInBev, and Naspers & Prosus, which secured 2nd to 4th places among 267 entries.
Entries will be accepted from May 20 to August 15, 2025, via the official website: www.theseras.com. The grand awards ceremony is scheduled for November 29, 2025.
