Brand Times Shines at Startup Awards as Platform, Editor-in-Chief Win Trophies

Reaffirming its leadership position in the media space, Brand Times, a leading brand, marketing, business, and tech news platform, has clinched the Best Startup Coverage (Non-Tech New Media Platform of the Year) at the 2024 edition of the Startup Awards organized by #StartupSouth.
The prestigious award held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, also saw Brand Times’ Editor-in-Chief, Azeez Disu, emerging as the Startup Journalist of the Year. Brand Times beat other notable news platforms like Pulse.ng, Legit.ng, Naira Diary, and AbaCity Blog.com to win the coveted prize. Also, Disu beat Precious Akuta of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) to win the award.
Startups Awards climaxed the two-day event of the 9th edition of #StartupSouth Conference tagged ‘#StartupSouth9 Conference’. Individuals and Organisations (in the public and private sectors) were honoured at the award for their contributions to the startup’s ecosystem.
Uche Aniche, Convener, #StartupSouth, said the awardees are those driving innovation but also making a lasting impact on communities, economies, and the future of technology in Nigeria.
Congratulating the Brand Times Team for the award, Aniche said, “Congratulations, Azeez Disu and the Brand Times Team, for winning the Journalist of the Year and the Non-Tech New Media Platform of the Year Awards, respectively, at Startup Awards by #StartupSouth, well deserved.”

Receiving the award, Editor-in-Chief of Brand Times, Azeez Disu, said, “Making impact with our news reportage has always been our goal. We are glad that our effort has earned us these two prestigious awards at Startup Awards. It will spur us to keep doing more because we value the role startups play in the world and we will continue to support the growth of the ecosystem.”
Recall that Brand Times earlier this year clinched the 2023-2024 Humanitarian Reporting Awards organized by Rotary International District 9110 for its excellent reportage of humanitarian stories contributing to making the world a better place. It emerged winner of the award category “Best online newspaper in the reportage of clubs and RI D9110 activities”.

Like Brand Times, Brand Times’ Editor-in-Chief continues his winning streak. Last year, he was awarded the Marketing Journalist of the Year at the Nigerian Marketing Awards (NMA). He has also won numerous other awards, which include Brand Journalist of the Year at ADVAN Awards for Marketing Excellence, PR Journalist of the Year at the Lagos State PR Industry Gala, and Awards (LaPRIGA), among others.
#StartupSouth9 Conference themed “Deep & Broad: Extending Frontiers of Technology and Economic Development” brought together founders, innovators, investors, and key stakeholders from across the country.
