Samuel Ayetutu Becomes Lagos NIPR Chairman as Comfort Nwankwo Joins National Council

In a recent development within the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Samuel Ayetutu has been appointed Chairman of the Lagos Chapter, following the election of Mrs. Comfort Obot Nwankwo to the NIPR National Council during the Institute’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Uyo in May 2025.

The official handover took place on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, during the Lagos Chapter’s first monthly meeting after the AGM. Dr. Ayetutu, who was serving as Vice Chairman, assumes the role for the remaining duration of the current executive term, which concludes on August 14, 2025, ahead of the upcoming elections.

Mrs. Nwankwo expressed her appreciation to the chapter members for their unwavering support throughout her tenure as Chairwoman. Her election to the NIPR Council marks a significant milestone for her career and the Institute.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Ayetutu, who also celebrated a personal achievement by successfully defending his PhD thesis at Babcock University on the same day, praised his predecessor’s leadership and pledged to foster unity within the Lagos Chapter. He emphasized his commitment to elevating the public relations profession’s profile and influence in Lagos State.

Per the NIPR Chapter Administration By-Law (Amended 2024), Mrs. Nwankwo retains her position as an Ex-Officio member of the Chapter’s Executive Council, with responsibilities as Internal Auditor. Mr. Olusegun McMedal was also elected to the NIPR Council during the AGM.

Dr. Ayetutu is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, as well as a dedicated Rotarian. With over 24 years of experience in Integrated Marketing Communications, he is recognized as a seasoned, innovative, and strategic communication professional.
