FRSC Commits to Backing Local Content and Safety Standards in Nigeria’s Auto Sector ‎

‎The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has pledged its support for policies and innovations aimed at advancing local content and ensuring safer vehicle designs in Nigeria’s automotive industry.

‎ At the Nigeria Auto Industry Summit, hosted by the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) in partnership with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) in Lagos, FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, represented by Assistant Corps Marshal Ann Oladayo, Zonal Commanding Officer for Lagos and Ogun States, highlighted
‎the critical connection between road safety, automotive standards, and local production.

‎ The summit, themed “Nigeria First: Local Content as Catalyst for the Creative Economy,” was hailed as a pivotal step toward a self-reliant automotive sector.“The FRSC, as the lead agency for road safety and traffic management, recognizes that local content development is key to creating a sustainable automotive ecosystem,” Oladayo stated. He emphasized that locally produced components must adhere to global safety and environmental standards to ensure vehicles are safe, durable, and eco-friendly, aligning with Nigeria’s goals of digitalization, job creation, and sustainable growth.

‎The FRSC expressed its commitment to working with stakeholders to foster policies that drive innovation in transport technologies and uphold ethical practices across the industry. “This summit is a vital platform for sparking meaningful dialogue, attracting investment, and crafting strategies to elevate Nigeria’s auto sector on the global stage,” Oladayo added.The Corps lauded NAJA and NADDC for their relentless efforts and assured continued collaboration to build a safer, more efficient, and locally driven automotive industry in Nigeria.
