NEMCEA 2025 Awards Honour Industry Legends Olu Jacobs and Jimi Odumosu in Celebratory Night of Content Excellence
The 4th edition of the Nigerian Electronic Media Content Exhibition and Awards (NEMCEA 2025), organised by the Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN), culminated in a spectacular awards ceremony on Wednesday, 17 September 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Lagos. The event underscored EMCOAN’s commitment to promoting and recognising outstanding content across television, radio, and online platforms.
A highlight of the evening was the recognition of industry pioneers who have laid the foundation for Nigeria’s creative sector. Screen icon Olu Jacobs and renowned Film/TV Director and Producer Jimi Odumosu were honoured with the prestigious Industry Pacesetter Award, celebrating their outstanding careers and enduring contributions to Nigerian entertainment.
Strategic leadership was also celebrated, with two influential women receiving special recognition. Mrs Jibe Ologeh, a former EMCOAN President, was awarded the Luminary Award for Content Creation and Leadership, while Ijeoma Onah, founder of the Nigerian Film & TV Summit (NIFS), received the Industry Trailblazer Award for her ongoing efforts to shape the industry’s future.
EMCOAN President, Mr Adeniji Omirin, opened the ceremony by emphasising the lasting importance of the NEMCEA Awards, encouraging stakeholders to continue championing authentic Nigerian stories and content. Meanwhile, NEMCEA 2025 Project Director, Alayande Stephen T., reflected on the four-year journey of recognising excellence in Nigerian media, expressing gratitude to all nominees, the jury, and sponsors who have supported the initiative since 2022.
In the competitive categories, *Closets*, produced by Zee Media Services Ltd, once again claimed the coveted Best Overall Drama Series award, marking its second victory. Lead actor Gabriel Afolayan was named Best Actor, while Marvel Bassey took home Best Actress for her role in *Sands of Time*.
Other notable awards included Stellamaris Duru’s recognition as Best Producer for We Happy People. Local productions such as *Sport Pizza* (Best Sports Show) and *Oro Yi Kan Wa* (Best Entertainment Show) showcased Nigeria’s growing quality in content creation. On radio, *The Wives Round Table* was honoured as Best Talk Show. International channels also made an impact, with Zee World winning two categories including Best Content Channel, and Star Life securing the Best Drama Series award for *Game of Love*.
The evening also celebrated the contributions of key institutions. The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) received a Distinguished Award for Good Programming, and Radio Nigeria was recognised for Social Impact Programming, highlighting their roles in national development and quality broadcasting.
The event reaffirmed Nigeria’s vibrant media landscape, honouring those who continue to elevate local stories and foster industry growth.
