LG Electronics, AXA Mansard Team Up to Offer Free Malaria Insurance to Nigerians

LG Electronics and AXA Mansard Health have collaborated to launch a major initiative providing free malaria insurance to Nigerian citizens, particularly those who are LG customers. This groundbreaking partnership forms a key element of LG’s ‘Life’s Good Care Campaign’, which aims to promote healthier communities and protect families across the nation.
The initiative addresses Nigeria’s serious public health challenge concerning malaria. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Nigeria recorded the highest number of cases globally in 2023, accounting for 26% of nearly a quarter of a billion malaria cases worldwide. Furthermore, recent data indicates that Nigeria bears approximately 27% of the global malaria burden, with the country reporting over 60,000 malaria-related deaths in 2021.
LG and AXA Mansard Health are taking bold steps to reduce the devastating impact of malaria by providing insurance coverage for treatment, improving access to healthcare, and raising public awareness about prevention. The free insurance programme is designed to ease the financial burden associated with treatment and empower families with better access to healthcare solutions.

Mr Hyoung Sub Ji, Managing Director of LG Electronics West Africa, emphasised that the company’s commitment extends beyond technological innovation. He stated: “Malaria continues to pose a serious health and economic threat to millions of families. Our commitment goes beyond innovative technology; it’s about improving lives. Partnering with AXA Mansard allows us to deliver practical healthcare protection to the people who matter most: our customers and communities.”
LG Electronics customers will have access to AXA Mansard Health’s Standard, Classic, and Premium Malaria-care plans. These plans significantly improve access to quality healthcare by offering telemedicine services, enabling customers to consult qualified doctors remotely. They also ensure access to prescribed medications at accredited pharmacies, including free delivery services within Lagos. The Premium Care Plan additionally offers comprehensive malaria coverage and access to more than 1,000 hospitals nationwide, ensuring customers can obtain care whenever and wherever necessary.

Speaking on the partnership, Mrs Jumoke Odunlami, Chief Distribution Officer of AXA Mansard and Director of AXA Mansard Health, said: “By working with LG, we’re expanding the reach of our malaria insurance plans to protect more families and make a meaningful impact.” Mrs Odunlami noted that the initiative is a vital part of the fight against malaria and aims to reduce its nationwide impact.
Olusesan Ogunyooye, Head of Marketing at AXA Mansard, also emphasised that the purpose of the initiative is to increase insurance penetration across the country. He pointed out: “We want to ensure that every Nigerian is protected, every Nigerian life is protected, and that life remains good for everyone.”

Yeeun Kim, Assistant Product Manager at Eco Solutions, LG Electronics, shared her perspective on the importance of the insurance programme. She noted that it was an honour to witness the journey leading to the partnership’s establishment and emphasised that the initiative will help reduce malaria-related deaths.
