Turkish Airlines Announces Leadership Reshuffle: Prof. Murat Şeker as Chairman and Ahmet Olmuştur as CEO

In line with its ongoing pursuit of growth and excellence, Turkish Airlines has restructured its senior management. Prof. Murat Şeker, who has held vital roles including Chief Financial Officer (CFO), has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. Meanwhile, Ahmet Olmuştur, who has led the airline’s strategic sales and marketing efforts, takes on the role of CEO.

Prof. Murat Şeker, a seasoned executive with extensive experience in finance and international markets, previously served as Turkish Airlines’ CFO. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Marmara University, a Master’s in Economics from Sabancı University, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Minnesota. His career includes prominent roles at the World Bank and Ziraat Bank, where he managed international funding and investor relations. Since joining Turkish Airlines as CFO in 2016, Prof. Şeker has been a member of the Board and the Executive Committee, as well as a Board Member of Turkish Technic and SunExpress. He has also been actively involved in the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as a member and Chair of its Financial Advisory Council.

Prof. Şeker has contributed academically as a part-time instructor at Boğaziçi University and received his Professorship in December 2025.

He is married with three children.

As part of the management transition, Ahmet Olmuştur, who has been with Turkish Airlines since 2000, has been appointed CEO. His career began at the airline’s Call Center and progressed through various roles, including Manager of Revenue Management and Senior Vice President of Revenue Management. Since 2014, Olmuştur has served as Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, and from 2024, he has led the airline’s commercial operations as Chief Commercial Officer.

Born in Istanbul in 1980, Olmuştur holds a Business Administration degree from Marmara University and an MBA from a collaborative program involving Long Island University, European Business School, and Pôle Universitaire Léonard de Vinci. He is actively involved in several institutions, including the Turkish Golf Federation and the Turkish National Olympic Committee.

He is married with three children.

Turkish Airlines, renowned for flying to more countries than any other airline and serving as Türkiye’s flag carrier, aims to enhance its global leadership with these new management appointments, leveraging its talented workforce, sustainable growth strategy, and passenger-centric approach.
