Empowering Mental Health: Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers Completes Renovation of Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Enugu

Building on its history of community-focused initiatives, including the renovation of Government Day Secondary School in Akamkpa, Cross River State, Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers has successfully completed a major renovation of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Enugu. This project underscores the company’s ongoing dedication to impactful contributions in health and education across Nigeria.

The renovation has transformed both the exterior and interior of the hospital, creating a safer, more comfortable, and welcoming environment for patients, healthcare workers, and visitors alike. The hospital’s outdoor spaces have been landscaped with greenery, and a covered canopy has been installed to provide a more suitable sit-out area. A 20-meter perimeter fence now offers enhanced security, while a newly installed borehole ensures a steady supply of water. These upgrades not only improve the hospital’s functionality but also foster a more serene and therapeutic atmosphere.

Internally, the central and extension wards have undergone extensive refurbishment. The floors have been polished; walls have been screeded and freshly painted; and furniture has been upgraded with new ward beds, side drawers, window treatments, nurses’ desks, and televisions. Damaged fixtures such as ceiling fans, doors, and lighting have been replaced, and a fumigation exercise was conducted to maintain a hygienic and safe environment. The hospital’s toilet block, comprising six toilets, has been thoroughly modernised with new plumbing, sanitary ware, electrical fittings, and tiling. These improvements collectively elevate the standard of patient care, comfort, and safety.
