Makogi Community Breaks Ground on New Health Centre, Launches Fundraising Campaign to Boost Local Healthcare

The Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina Lanre Ogunsola FCIPA, has expressed strong support for the proposed Makogi Community Health Centre as the Makogi Area Community Development Committee (MACDC) officially broke ground for the project and launched a fundraising appeal to support its construction and equipping.

The groundbreaking ceremony, held at the Makogi Health Centre under the theme “Building a Healthier Tomorrow Together,” brought together community leaders, members of the MACDC executive committee, government representatives, traditional authorities, development stakeholders, and residents.

Speaking at the event, Amb. Ogunsola recognised the proposed health centre as an important addition to healthcare infrastructure within Obafemi Owode Local Government, noting that access to quality healthcare remains essential to the wellbeing and productivity of communities.

He emphasised that sustainable development requires collaboration between communities, government, and other stakeholders, assuring that initiatives that directly improve the welfare of residents deserve meaningful support.

The Executive Chairman commended the Makogi community and its leadership for taking the initiative to address a critical development need, while encouraging continued cooperation among stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of the project.

Also speaking at the ceremony, HRM Oba Babatunde Sonola, the Oni Makogi of Makogi Kingdom, described the project as an important investment in the wellbeing and future of the community. He called on individuals, corporate organisations, government institutions, and philanthropic organisations to support the initiative.

The MACDC Chairman, Rtn. Hon. Akomolafe Busayo C., described the groundbreaking as a significant milestone in the committee’s commitment to sustainable community development. He appealed to residents, organisations, philanthropists, and well-meaning Nigerians to contribute financially or through the provision of building materials and other resources.

The proposed health centre is expected to improve access to essential healthcare services for residents of Makogi and surrounding communities, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances to access basic medical care.

The fundraising campaign will support the construction, equipping, and eventual operationalisation of the facility. The MACDC is therefore calling on corporate organisations, development partners, government agencies, philanthropists, and members of the public to join the initiative.
