Detty December Fest Announces DJ Tunez & Friends and Tungba Christmas for the Festive Season

Detty December Fest has announced two additions to its 2026 programme in Lagos, with DJ Tunez & Friends taking place on Christmas Eve, Thursday, 24 December, followed by Tungba Christmas celebration on Friday, 25 December.

DJ Tunez & Friends will kick off the Christmas festivities with a DJ-led party on Christmas Eve. Known for his collaboration with Wande Coal on “Iskaba”, DJ Tunez was named Best DJ Africa at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards. Further details about the artists joining him on the night will be announced through the festival’s official channels.

On Christmas Day, Tungba Christmas will bring Nigerian owambe culture to the festival, combining live music and DJ performances with elaborate dressing, a vintage-car parade and on-the-spot portraits. Drawing on the tradition of gathering for weddings, birthdays and family milestones, the event will invite families, Lagos residents, visitors and Nigerians returning from the diaspora to celebrate together through the music, style and traditions that make December in Lagos distinctive.

“As Detty December Fest expands, we want the programme to reflect the many reasons people look forward to Christmas in Lagos. Beyond the excitement of live music, there is an opportunity to celebrate the traditions, shared experiences and sense of home that make this time of year so important to people. And we want the festival to create room for more of these in a way that is so distinctly Nigerian,” said Deola Art Alade, Convener, Detty December Fest.

The Christmas programme forms part of the expanded second edition of Detty December Fest, following a debut that attracted more than 40,000 attendees. This year, the festival introduces a two-stage format, with the main Festival stage hosting headline acts and the Pulse stage spotlighting African music, culture and nightlife.

The expansion comes as Lagos’ December entertainment and tourism season continues to attract domestic and diaspora spending. MO Africa Co.’s The Economics of Euphoria: Detty December 2025 estimated consumer spending across the season at approximately ₦396.5 billion.

Detty December Fest 2026 runs from 18 to 30 December, with Wizkid headlining opening night on 18 December. Across 13 days, festivalgoers will experience headline concerts, aerial shows, emerging talent showcases, immersive brand experiences, food and lifestyle activations, nightlife programming and curated experiences celebrating the creativity, energy and global appeal of Lagos during its most anticipated season.
