IHS Nigeria Reaffirms Commitment to National Security at NCTC Strategic Plan Unveiling
IHS Nigeria, a leading provider of communications infrastructure and a subsidiary of IHS Towers Group, reaffirmed its dedication to Nigeria’s national security during the official launch of the NCTC Strategic Plan (2025–2030). The event, held at the Office of the National Security Adviser in Abuja, was attended by government officials, security leaders, diplomatic representatives, development partners, and private-sector stakeholders.
In his remarks, Mr. Dapo Otunla, Senior Vice President and Chief Corporate Services Officer of IHS Nigeria, emphasized the company’s role as a strategic partner in national security. “Our towers, fiber networks, and connectivity infrastructure are more than assets—they are digital lifelines vital to Nigeria’s economy and security,” he stated. Otunla reiterated IHS Nigeria’s ongoing collaboration with security agencies and expressed pride in supporting Nigeria’s security initiatives through resilient telecommunications infrastructure.
The event also featured Mr. Ayotade Oyinlola, Group CHRO of IHS Towers, reaffirming the company’s commitment to national development and public-private partnerships.
Major General A.G. Laka, National Coordinator of the NCTC, highlighted the evolving threat landscape and the importance of a coordinated, intelligence-led, and technology-driven approach. He described the new Strategic Plan as a testament to Nigeria’s renewed commitment to preventing terrorism, countering extremism, and asserting regional leadership.
Representatives from First Bank Nigeria and the African Union Commission praised the government’s clear framework for counterterrorism efforts, emphasizing the need for ongoing collaboration, shared responsibility, and sustained investments.
Dr. Ibrahim Bangura outlined the plan’s core priorities, including enhancing intelligence, fostering interagency coordination, leveraging technology, and promoting community-centered strategies. He also stressed the goal of positioning Nigeria as a regional leader in counterterrorism.
Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, described the Strategic Plan as a pragmatic and forward-looking effort to protect communities and strengthen institutional resilience. He called for collective responsibility across government, private sector, and communities for its successful implementation.
The event concluded with financial commitments from various partners to support the plan’s execution and a vote of thanks by Commodore Ahmad Madawaki.
