Minister Musawa Backs Detty December Fest as Busta Rhymes, Others Set to Light Up Lagos

The highly anticipated Detty December Fest has announced its first wave of headliners, promising a blockbuster celebration of Nigeria’s vibrant culture and entertainment scene. The festival, set to run from December 6 to 31, 2025, features legendary rapper Busta Rhymes, Tanzanian artist Juma Jux, and Nigerian sensation Bella Shmurda among its early confirmed acts.

The festival will take place at two prime Lagos venues: Ilubirin in Ikoyi and the Livespot Entertairum on Oba Elegushi Beach Road, Lekki. The schedule kicks off with a spectacular opening concert featuring aerial shows on December 6, followed by a cinematic live experience on December 7. Over the month, attendees can look forward to a diverse lineup including live performances, club nights, a variety show, and a grand finale rave.

Notably, the Nigerian government has thrown its support behind the event, with a special video message from Nigeria’s Minister of Art, Culture & the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa. The minister praised Detty December Fest as a vital contributor to Nigeria’s cultural ecosystem, emphasizing its role in boosting the country’s global creative presence and attracting holiday tourism.

Highlights of the upcoming programming include a Christmas-themed variety show, the highly anticipated Gunna live concert, and the ultimate Detty December rave on December 30. Additional artists and surprise guests are expected to be announced soon.
