Public Relations Industry Gears Up for Worldwide Celebration of World PR Day 2025

The worldwide public relations and communications industry is gearing up to celebrate World PR Day 2025 on July 16, continuing a growing tradition since its launch in 2020. This annual event unites PR professionals, agencies, associations, and thought leaders from over 65 countries across six continents to recognize the crucial role of public relations in shaping businesses, governance, and society at large. In 2024, the occasion drew more than 18,000 professionals, 157 agencies, and 25 associations, underscoring its expanding influence and significance in the industry.
Ayẹni Adékúnlé, the event’s convener, stated, “World PR Day was created to educate the public and business sectors about the value of PR and its contribution to democracy and societal progress. Our aim is to set the agenda for the industry, celebrate our achievements, and chart the way forward. The global engagement so far is truly inspiring.”
Since 2021, the celebration has incorporated a mix of physical and virtual activities—including summits, conferences, and community events—that continue to grow in reach and impact. The day emphasizes the profession’s dedication to ethical standards, innovation, and fostering trust amid rapid global change.
While the official theme and full schedule for World PR Day 2025 were announced on June 16, early activities are already underway in countries such as Nigeria and Ghana, reflecting widespread enthusiasm for this year’s observance.
The theme for 2025 is **”Building Bridges & Navigating Polarisation.”** The celebration will feature a variety of activities, including editorial pieces, social media campaigns, seminars, debates, and workshops.
