Qatar Airways Unveils World’s First Starlink-Enabled Boeing 787 and Largest A350 Fleet Rollout

Qatar Airways has made a historic leap in in-flight connectivity by launching the world’s first Starlink-equipped Boeing 787 and completing the installation of Starlink on its Airbus A350 fleet, connecting over 11 million passengers with the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky. The airline has become the first carrier worldwide to install Starlink on Boeing 787-8 aircraft, with three Dreamliners already outfitted with the technology.

Following its successful Boeing 777 rollout programme, Qatar Airways also achieved the first-ever Airbus A350 Starlink installation in aviation history. Today, nearly 120 widebody aircraft are fitted with Starlink, delivering faster-than-home internet experiences on routes across six continents, including long- and ultra-long-haul flights.

Qatar Airways, which operates the world’s first and largest Starlink-enabled widebody fleet, has established itself as the global leader in this cutting-edge technology. The airline completed the entire Airbus A350 fleet’s Starlink installation within a record-breaking eight months in December 2025, and now operates three Boeing 787 Dreamliners with the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky. This brings the total number of Starlink-connected widebody aircraft to nearly 120.

This achievement marks the fastest and most ambitious widebody Starlink rollout in global aviation history. In just 14 months, Qatar Airways successfully launched and completed installation programmes on its Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 fleets, then expanded to its Boeing 787 Dreamliners.

This rapid progress cements Qatar Airways’ position as the world’s leading airline in Starlink-enabled long-haul and ultra-long-haul connectivity, building on its legacy as the aircraft’s global launch customer with the world’s first and largest Starlink-equipped A350 fleet.

As voted the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax in 2025 for the ninth time, Qatar Airways is also the first airline globally to secure Starlink certification for the Boeing 787-8.

The airline’s leadership in this area is already benefiting travelers worldwide, with over 11 million passengers enjoying free, gate-to-gate*, faster-than-home Wi-Fi onboard since the service launched in October 2024. In 2025, Starlink connected over 21 million passengers across global airlines, with Qatar Airways’ Starlink-enabled passengers accounting for nearly half—over 10 million—who experienced the complimentary service onboard its widebody aircraft on long- and ultra-long-haul routes.

Nearly 120 widebody aircraft—over 58% of Qatar Airways’ fleet, including Airbus A350s, Boeing 777s, and Boeing 787s—now offer ultra-high-speed connectivity at up to 500 Mbps. This allows passengers to stream content, make video calls, and work in real time, often surpassing many home broadband networks. The airline is steadily expanding this fastest Wi-Fi in the sky to destinations across the Americas, Australia**, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
