UNILAG, LASU, YABATECH, and Others to Compete at Lagos Campus Beach Soccer Tournament on July 26

Over ten higher education institutions in Lagos are set to participate in the annual Lagos Campus Beach Soccer tournament, scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Atican Beach, Lekki.

The event, organized by the Lagos State Government in partnership with BrandEscort Communications, will assemble top tertiary institutions across the state for an exciting beach soccer competition.

Speaking about the event in Lagos, Adebanji Atewogboye, also known as Skibanj and Senior Special Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Grassroots Sports Development, highlighted the initiative’s broader objectives. He explained that a “campus storming activation,” involving visits and promotional activities at participating institutions, will lead up to the main tournament.

“This highly anticipated Lagos Campus Beach Soccer event will feature students from leading institutions across Lagos State. It aims to promote beach soccer culture while providing young talents with a platform to showcase their skills and potentially pursue careers in professional beach soccer,” Atewogboye stated.

Participating institutions include the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lagos State University (LASU), Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Lagos State University of Education, Federal College of Education Technical, Lagos State College of Nursing, among others.

Bamidele Adeleye, Managing Director of BrandEscort Communications, revealed that this year’s tournament theme is “Addressing Drug Abuse and Addiction,” emphasizing the urgent need to combat rising drug abuse among Nigerian youth.

He urged corporate organizations to support the initiative through partnerships with the Lagos State Government to address this critical issue affecting young people in the state.
