We’ve Lost Nigeria’s Version of Albert Einstein— FIRS Boss Pays Tribute to Olunloyo

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS),Dr. Zacch Adedeji, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Dr. Omololu Olunloyo, a former governor of Oyo State, referring to his death as the loss of a brilliant star from Nigeria’s constellation of intellect.

The announcement of Olunloyo’s death came from his family early on Sunday morning. In a statement released by his Special Adviser (Media), Dare Adekanmbi, Adedeji praised Olunloyo as an extraordinary genius. He highlighted Olunloyo’s remarkable academic achievements, including graduating with First Class Honours and earning a PhD in Applied Mathematics at the age of 26 from the University of St Andrews in Scotland.

“Dr. Olunloyo could rightly be called Nigeria’s version of Albert Einstein,” Adedeji stated. He reflected on the valuable lessons he learned during their time together, noting that Olunloyo’s intellect extended beyond mathematics to encompass a deep appreciation for classical music, particularly the works of W.A. Mozart, as well as a profound understanding of literature. Adedeji recalled how Olunloyo could recite extensive passages from Shakespeare, illustrating how these lessons could be applied to everyday life.

“In African culture, we say that when an elder passes away, a library is set ablaze. This is what has occurred with the loss of Dr. Olunloyo,” he added, emphasizing the vast knowledge that has been lost with his departure.

Adedeji extended his condolences to Olunloyo’s family, friends, and admirers, acknowledging that despite his advanced age, his wealth of experience and wisdom will be dearly missed.
