Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Alumni Association Set to Hold Convention and Elect New EXCOS


The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Alumni Association (MAPALUM) is preparing for its upcoming biennial convention scheduled for Saturday, May 24, 2025. The event will take place at the Academic Planning Building Board Hall on the Ojere campus in Abeokuta.
According to the association’s National President, Mr. Ezekiel Obasanya, the convention will serve as a platform for leadership renewal as delegates from various chapters will elect a new National Executive Council (NEC). He stated, “This convention marks a significant transition, with delegates from chapters including Lagos, Abeokuta, Remo, as well as international chapters in the United Kingdom, Europe, North America, and beyond, expected to participate.”
The event will feature key addresses and presentations, starting with the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Arch. Dr. Koyejo Jolaoso, delivering the keynote speech. The Chairman of the Polytechnic’s Governing Council, Prof. Kamal Balogun, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour. The event will be chaired by Hadj Adebisi Bada, Chairman of Surry Bee Petroleum Ltd.
Additionally, Dr. Goke Rauf, Rector of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic in Itoro-Ewekoro, Ogun State, will present on the theme, “Elevating MAPOLY’s Legacy through Alumni Partnership.” The Royal Father of the Day will be HRH Olota of Ota Kingdom, Oba Prof. Abdul-Kabir Adeyemi Obalanlege.
Key issues to be addressed at the convention include the finalization of the Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) agreement for a new alumni hostel capable of accommodating 1,200 students each for male and female students, the completion of the Alumni Centre, and the launching of entrepreneurship, skills acquisition, and mentorship programs aimed at empowering students.
Prominent dignitaries and alumni expected to attend include Mr. Olalekan Otun, Chairman of the Committee for Distinguished Alumni (CODA) and Executive Director of Minds and Brains Ltd Media; Arch. Samson Popoola, Executive Chairman of SKP Services Ltd; veteran broadcaster and former NTA Katsina General Manager, Hadj Ayinde Soaga; Mr. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, Chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government; Hon. Olamide Lawal, Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Youth Development; Chief Tunde Odeyemi, Managing Director of Kabat Communication Ltd; Mr. Bola Fashina, Chief of Staff to the Chairman of the National Quality Control; and Omooba Segun Adewale, Managing Director of 24/7 IMC Ltd, among others.
