Far beyond mere philanthropy, IBMKP’s work is a strategic investment in the future, built on the conviction that empowering the youth through Quality Education (SDG 4) and forging robust Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) is the pathway to lasting continental progress.
The foundation’s approach embodies the spirit of the profound African proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” IBMKP has chosen the latter path, collaborating extensively to ensure that its impact is not fleeting, but enduring and expansive. The Visionary at the Helm: John Ikidi’s Leadership Philosophy
At the core of the IBMKP Foundation’s success is the unwavering leadership of its Founder, John Ikidi. A visionary Business Analyst originally hailing from Esan Central Local Government Area, Edo State, Nigeria, and now based in Australia, Mr. Ikidi has harnessed over a decade of expertise in bridging technology and human-centred solutions to address critical developmental needs.
As the CEO of JOAIIK Company and a certified Product Owner, John Ikidi represents the new guard of African diaspora leaders who leverage global experience for inclusive development and community advancement back home. He is a graduate of Computer Science and a committed member of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), underscoring his deep commitment to digital progress and professional excellence.
John Ikidi’s leadership of IBMKP is characterised by a strong focus on inclusive development, diversity, and cross-cultural collaboration. He views the foundation as a crucial vehicle for empowering young people through three vital pillars: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, entrepreneurship, and leadership training. This holistic perspective aligns perfectly with the foundation’s commitment to shaping a future where technology, education, and sustainability unite to drive Africa’s progress.
His dedication to nurturing the next generation is manifest in tangible programmes, such as his support for specialised technological achievements, including the Scouts STEM Badge and the advanced Runlinc Myriota Satellite IoT STEM Badge. These efforts are designed to inspire young people to lead, innovate, and build sustainable solutions.
It is this commitment to tangible change that defines the foundation’s ethos. Reflecting on the necessity of providing practical technological pathways for African youth, John Ikidi, speaking implicitly through the foundation’s mandate, affirms: “We must equip our young people not just with theoretical knowledge, but with hands-on digital and entrepreneurial skills to ensure inclusive growth and transformation across the continent. One of the most significant technological outreach programmes was the Runlinc AI & IoT Demo Session held in collaboration with the STEMSEL Foundation and the National Institute of Construction Technology and Management (NICTM) in August 2025. This workshop provided students with invaluable experience in AI-powered coding, advanced IoT applications, and game development. The interactive programme, facilitated by expert figures including Mr. Miro, Mr. Peng Choo, Mr. John Ikidi himself, and Mr. Andrew Ibhagbemien, was instrumental in fostering innovation, creativity, and technical confidence among the participants. This event not only educated but also strengthened crucial collaboration among IBMKP Global, STEMSEL, and NICTM in their shared goal of promoting AI-IoT education and youth-driven innovation.
Further demonstrating their commitment to technological inclusion, IBMKP Global launched a free online web development training programme in 2025. This ongoing initiative is specifically aimed at Nigerian youth and women, providing them with essential foundational coding skills, coupled with structured mentorship and a community learning environment. The aim is clear: to prepare participants for diverse opportunities in freelancing, entrepreneurship, and the broader tech-driven innovation economy.
These efforts are complemented by large-scale awareness campaigns. In October 2025, the IBMKP Abuja Team conducted a citywide STEM Education Awareness Drive. This involved engaging students, parents, and educators through targeted discussions and resource materials, consistently promoting STEM learning as the vital link to a prosperous future. Earlier in the 2024-2025 cycle, IBMKP participated actively in the Innovate North Hackathon in Kano, making a substantive contribution to the burgeoning ecosystem of innovation and technology development across Northern Nigeria.
IBMKP’s contribution extends profoundly into community development and welfare, proving that technology and humanity are mutually reinforcing goals. The organisation’s outreach activities demonstrate a deep understanding of the socio-economic barriers facing young people, particularly girls.
Addressing Period Poverty and Promoting Menstrual Health
In a remarkable initiative that focused on dignity and inclusion, IBMKP partnered with the Mahcare Foundation for the Two-School Outreach Donation Events in May 2025. This campaign was specifically designed to address period poverty and promote crucial menstrual health awareness across Kaduna State.
The scale of the effort was significant: IBMKP Global donated sanitary pads to 200 girls across the state. Expanding this initiative, the broader #DonateAPad Campaign reached Government Girls Secondary School, Kawo, and Community School, Hayin Banki, where a staggering total of 400 sanitary pads were distributed, directly benefiting over 500 students in total.
Crucially, this campaign was more than a donation drive; it was an educational intervention. The initiative thoughtfully combined menstrual hygiene education with STEM awareness sessions, thereby fostering dignity, inclusion, and empowerment for young girls. Furthermore, male students were actively engaged in the sessions, a vital move designed to promote understanding and effectively break down stigma surrounding menstrual health in the community.
To further amplify the advocacy efforts against period poverty and for girls’ education, the IBMKP and Mahcare teams participated in the Walk for Dignity across Kaduna communities.
Fostering Partnerships and Recognition
The commitment of the foundation has garnered significant recognition and facilitated powerful partnerships. During the Scouts Association of Nigeria 50th Anniversary in January 2025, IBMKP delivered a crucial presentation focused on Runlinc and the significance of STEM education for Nigeria’s overall educational development. The organisation’s efforts were officially acknowledged when the Commissioner of the Nigeria Scouts Association bestowed upon them a prestigious STEM badge.
In December 2024, the foundation’s educational mission continued at Al-Qalam University, Katsina, during the university’s convocation. Here, IBMKP focused on raising awareness about the central role of STEM education. The team conducted interviews with over 20 students, opening a vital dialogue on the importance of STEM and IoT, successfully fostering engagement on these critical topics.
Driving Sustainability and Policy Alignment
IBMKP Foundation is keenly aware that sustainable development requires policy alignment and proactive planning. The organisation maintains consistent collaboration with the SSA to the Governor on Climate, SDGs, and NGOs in Kaduna State, strategically aligning its initiatives with the state’s overarching sustainability and education priorities.
A significant project focusing on long-term systemic change is the upcoming initiative: Sustainable Development for a Greener Future, scheduled for November 2025. This strategic sustainability project will concentrate on three interlinked critical areas: Climate Change, Quality Education, and Waste Management.
Furthermore, IBMKP is taking a leading role in the policy space with its Innovate Africa: Seizing the AfCFTA Moment programme. Recognising the potential of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the foundation continues to advocate vigorously for Africa’s creative and digital renaissance. This advocacy includes promoting essential measures such as intellectual property protection, establishing robust digital trade rails, and strengthening logistics necessary for cross-border innovation.
The Future: Expanding the Horizon
As IBMKP looks towards 2026 and beyond, the blueprint for the future is one of aggressive expansion and deeper integration of technology and social justice. The foundation is committed to expanding its critical STEM and digital literacy programmes across the broader African continent. This expansion will be underpinned by building strategic partnerships that effectively bridge innovation, sustainability, and youth empowerment.
The ultimate goal remains steadfast: equipping young people with the essential digital and entrepreneurial skills necessary to drive inclusive growth and monumental transformation. The work of the IBMKP Foundation demonstrates a powerful faith in the potential of the youth, embodying the belief that: “The ruin of a nation begins in the homes of its people,” an Ashanti proverb that underscores the vital importance of foundational education and community investment.
