OPay Collaborates with Dolly Children Foundation to Launch Clean Future Initiative Enhancing Sanitation, Education in Ogun School

OPay Digital Services Limited (OPay), in alliance with Dolly Children Foundation (DCF), has inaugurated the OPay Clean Future Initiative at Ebenezer Grammar School, Iberekodo, Abeokuta, Ogun State. This partnership underscores a shared dedication to environmental sustainability, quality education, and community development.

The official launch took place on Thursday, 18 June 2026, with attendees including representatives from the Ogun State Ministry of Education, school staff, pupils, community elders, volunteers, and development partners, all united in efforts to foster environmental awareness and better educational environments for Nigeria’s youth.

Central to the project is a newly built, gender-sensitive four-unit toilet block designed to offer pupils access to safe, hygienic, and respectful sanitation facilities. This intervention addresses a significant challenge faced by many public schools in marginalised communities, where poor sanitation can impact children’s health, attendance, and learning outcomes.

Mr. Itoro Udo, CSR Manager at OPay Digital Services Limited, stated: “Education is the foundation of a brighter future, yet many children still face barriers to quality learning. Through the OPay Clean Future Project, we are improving sanitation, supporting education, and ensuring more students have the opportunity to learn in a safe and dignified environment.”

In addition to infrastructure improvements, the programme included environmental education sessions and sanitation advocacy to promote cleanliness, responsible waste disposal, and environmental stewardship among students. The initiative aims not only to enhance facilities but also to instil behavioural changes that can have enduring benefits within the school and wider community.

Students received educational and hygiene materials, and those excelling academically and behaviourally were honoured with school bags, sandals, and other learning resources, highlighting the importance of supporting education and rewarding positive conduct.

On the significance of the initiative, Adedolapo Osuntuyi, Founder and Executive Director of Dolly Children Foundation, commented: “Every child deserves access to a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment. This project addresses a critical sanitation need while promoting environmental responsibility and helping students reach their full potential.”

The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and inspection of the new facilities, with stakeholders praising the partnership for meeting vital infrastructural needs within the school.

Mrs. Alajogun Latifat, representing the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, described the project as an example of what can be achieved through private sector and community collaboration. “The OPay Clean Future Project demonstrates the impact of strategic partnerships in improving learning environments and promoting responsible citizenship. We commend OPay and Dolly Children Foundation for this meaningful intervention.”

Many attendees described the occasion as a celebration of inspiration and community service. A particularly touching moment was when Mr. Adebayo Shogbiyeju, Principal of the Senior School at Ebenezer Grammar School, reflected on the journey of the Foundation’s founder, whom he once taught as a Physics student. “It is inspiring to see a former student return to create positive change within her community. Adedolapo Osuntuyi’s journey is a testament to the power of education, vision, and purpose, and an example for our students to emulate.”

His words resonated with students and guests alike, illustrating the transformative potential of education and the importance of investing in future generations.

For the pupils, the project signifies more than a new facility; it embodies dignity, improved health, and renewed hope for a better educational experience. One student expressed her enthusiasm: “This project has taught me the importance of cleanliness and caring for my environment. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to making my school and community better.”

The new sanitation block is expected to benefit hundreds of students by fostering healthier hygiene practices, reducing sanitation-related issues, and creating a safer, more conducive learning environment.

The OPay Clean Future Initiative aligns with national and international efforts to promote sustainable development, environmental care, quality education, and community wellbeing. It reflects OPay’s commitment to delivering value beyond financial services through impactful corporate social responsibility, and reinforces Dolly Children Foundation’s mission to empower children and uplift underserved communities through sustainable programmes.

Since its founding, Dolly Children Foundation has positively impacted over 25,000 children across 29 marginalised communities, implementing programmes focused on education, child development, mentorship, health, and social empowerment.

The successful launch of the OPay Clean Future Initiative signifies another step forward in OPay and Dolly Children Foundation’s joint efforts to foster cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable communities, ensuring every child has access to a safe and nurturing environment to learn and thrive.
