Abia Angel Investment Summit Set to Connect Founders with Investors, Unlock Local Capital for Startups

#StartupSouth, in collaboration with the Abia Technology & Innovation Network, the Abia State Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation, Innovation Growth Hub, and Rindeth Consulting, has unveiled the Abia Angel Investment Summit. This practical two-day event aims to unlock local capital for high-growth startups across Abia State and the wider South-East region.
The Summit is scheduled for 29 and 30 June 2026 in Aba, Abia State, with venue details to be provided post-registration. Interested participants can register or express interest via bit.ly/AbiaAngelInvSummit.
Under the theme “Unlocking Local Capital for High-Growth Startups,” the Summit will convene business leaders, investors, professionals, founders, ecosystem builders, and government stakeholders for targeted angel investing workshops, startup pitch sessions, investor readiness discussions, networking opportunities, and the official launch of the Abia Angel Investment Network.
Expressing the significance of the Summit, Daniel Chinagozi, Founding President of Abia Technology & Innovation Network and CEO of Innovation Growth Hub, explained:
“Abia has builders, traders, innovators and entrepreneurs with the ambition to scale beyond their immediate markets. What we need now is a more structured way to connect these founders with informed investors, mentors, networks and market access. The Abia Angel Investment Summit is an important step toward organising local capital and strengthening the support system around scalable ventures.”
The event also aims to bolster the state’s broader technology and innovation agenda by fostering stronger links between founders, investors, institutions, and the private sector.
According to Dave Kalu, Honourable Commissioner of the Abia State Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation, the initiative aligns directly with the Ministry’s commitment to promoting innovation-led growth:
“Our goal is to build an environment where technology-driven enterprise can thrive in Abia. This requires collaboration between government, investors, ecosystem leaders, and founders. The Abia Angel Investment Summit provides a timely platform to deepen investor education, support promising startups, and position Abia as a serious destination for innovation and enterprise.”
As part of the Summit, a Call for Founders to Pitch has been launched. Selected startups will present their ventures before potential angel investors, business leaders, mentors, and ecosystem stakeholders on 30 June 2026.
The pitching opportunity is open to early-stage startups, MVPs, revenue-generating ventures, and tech-enabled businesses, particularly in Retail & Commerce Technology, Logistics, Agribusiness, Health, Education, and Digital Services.
Interested founders can apply via bit.ly/AAIS-Pitch. The deadline for applications is Friday, 26 June 2026.
Somadina Nwaobiala, #StartupSouth Abia Lead, highlighted the purpose of the pitch session:
“This is not just about putting founders on stage. It is about helping serious builders access feedback, relationships, mentorship, and potential capital. Abia has strong entrepreneurial energy, and this Summit gives us a practical platform to connect that energy with people who can help it scale.”
The Abia Angel Investment Summit is poised to serve as a crucial step towards establishing a more organised early-stage investment community within the state, reinforcing Abia’s position in the South-East innovation economy.
