Fidelity Bank’s Food Relief Initiative Empowers Over 1,000 Families in Kogi State

In a compelling demonstration of corporate social responsibility, Fidelity Bank Plc has expanded its social impact efforts through the distribution of essential food supplies to over 1,000 families in Kogi State. The initiative, part of the Fidelity Food Bank Programme, underscores the bank’s dedication to addressing food insecurity and fostering sustainable community development.
Held at the Youth Centre in Lokoja, the event highlights Fidelity Bank’s ongoing commitment to creating positive social change across Nigeria. Since its inception in April 2023, the Fidelity Food Bank has made significant strides in reaching hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries nationwide, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 – Zero Hunger.
Mrs. Blessing Onwumere, Regional Bank Head, North Central II, Fidelity Bank Plc, articulated the significance of the initiative: “This programme was established to help reduce hunger and improve the wellbeing of underserved populations, while reinforcing Fidelity Bank’s belief that businesses have a responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the communities they serve.”
She emphasized that the Lokoja outreach extends beyond mere distribution, aiming to empower communities and foster resilience. “Today’s distribution will provide essential food supplies to over 1,000 beneficiaries. This initiative goes beyond the distribution of food items; it is about uplifting lives, strengthening communities, and supporting families with resources that contribute to their wellbeing and resilience. We appreciate the Lokoja community, the Abbasid Foundation and all our partners for supporting this impactful initiative,” she stated.
The initiative received commendation from Kogi State authorities. Represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya Faruk, Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo praised Fidelity Bank’s role in community development: “We commend Fidelity Bank for extending a helping hand to vulnerable members of our society, particularly women and youths. This is a laudable initiative that complements government’s efforts to improve the welfare of our people.”
