African Diaspora Cinema Festival Appoints Kingsley Omoefe As Nigeria’s Project Director

The African Diaspora Cinema Festival (ADCF) has announced the appointment of veteran Nigerian filmmaker, Kingsley Omoefe as the festival’s Project Director in Nigeria. 

With the new appointment, Omoefe will be overseeing the activities of ADCF in the country and ensuring that the festival achieves its objectives. 

The 2024 edition of the festival which is the eighth edition will hold from 26th to 29th of June in Florence, Italy. According to ADCF, it has received over two thousand films from more than a hundred countries across the globe for the past seven years, and most of the films submitted come from Nigeria. 

With the appointment of Omoefe, he is expected to surpass what has been achieved by the festival’s organisers in the Nigerian market and also drive the acceptance and involvement of more key stakeholders to the festival through various initiatives.

Omoefe is an award-winning filmmaker; Director, Producer, and Casting Director. He is an alumnus of Colorado Film School, Aurora, Denver, USA. He also studied Digital Film Making (New Media) at Prague Film School, Czech Republic;

Film Directing at the National Film Institute Jos, Film Production at the New York Film Academy and ThreeLA Film Academy London UK, also studied Business Studies at the Lagos State Polytechnic.  

He is one of Nollywood’s dynamic directors with major and notable television soap operas and sitcoms to his credit. He has been nicknamed King of Soaps for Directing five soap operas and series airing concurrently. 

He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Golden Heritage Nigeria Limited, a multimedia outfit with an interest in the business of production, distribution, and consultancy services for Films, Television, Radio; Music, Events & Shows, and other allied services.  

He also consults for Opa Williams Studios, The Heritage Film and Television Academy, Diamond Pictures, and RMD promotions, amongst others. 

He has also worked with notable Nollywood heavyweights; Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD), Tade Ogidan, Ego Boyo, Mahmood AliBalogun, Gab Okoye (Gabosky), Tajuddeen Adepetu, Opa Williams, Aquila Njamah, Famous Otakponmwen Amongst Others. 

Omoefe has to his credit several films and TV jobs including reality shows as Producer and Director. Some of them include Domino, Everyday People, 

Family Affair, Spider, Just The 2 Of Us, One Love, Beauty Parlour, Living Next To You, Delta Talent Hunt, House 45, And Miss Global.  

Others also include; Love Story, 2 Good Friends, Dr Damian, Good Old Friends, Wind Of Fate, Still Armed, Jungle Ride, and among others.

Established in 2013 by Fide Dayo a filmmaker, ADCF is a non-profit organization that has remained dedicated to the promotion of Black stories and images through the exhibition of films, visual art, and other creative expression. 

ADCF continues to receive hundreds of high-quality Black films from the U.S., Africa, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, the South Pacific, Canada, and Asia.

It yearly hosts some of the most vibrant film directors, actors, musicians stylists, and runways by fashion mentors. It also presents inspiring and informative panels and workshops featuring top industry professionals and showcases rare cinematic gems followed by filmmaker Q&A.
