Fidelity Bank Expands Social Impact Footprint with Food Security Drive in Abeokuta

Initiative Delivers Over 300,000 Meals Nationwide

In a strategic move to bolster food security and support sustainable livelihoods across Nigeria, Fidelity Bank Plc has demonstrated its dedication to social impact through the donation of over 2,000 food packs to residents of Abeokuta, Ogun State. This initiative is part of the bank’s broader CSR efforts, under the umbrella of the Fidelity Food Bank Initiative.

The distribution event took place at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cathedral, Itesi, Adatan, Abeokuta, highlighting the bank’s focus on vulnerable communities and access to essential resources. Since its launch in 2023, the Food Bank Initiative has delivered more than 300,000 food packs across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, emphasizing Fidelity Bank’s role in advancing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 — Zero Hunger.

Speaking at the event, Folaranmi Jemirin, Regional Bank Head, South West 1, Fidelity Bank Plc, emphasized the bank’s ongoing commitment: “At Fidelity Bank, we remain committed to implementing Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives that improve the living conditions of our host communities and contribute to sustainable development. Through our Food Bank Initiative, we are not only providing relief to vulnerable families but also supporting the global goal of ending hunger and ensuring food security for all.”

Jemirin also highlighted the bank’s broader community investments, which extend beyond food support to include education, youth rehabilitation, women’s economic empowerment, and social welfare programs. “This initiative is about more than distributing food items. It is about restoring hope, strengthening communities, uplifting families, and providing meaningful support that contributes to their wellbeing. We are grateful to the Catholic Diocese and all our partners whose collaboration has made this outreach possible,” he added.

Rev. Fr. Dominic Olagbaju, Cathedral Administrator, expressed heartfelt appreciation for Fidelity Bank’s sustained investment in community well-being: “We sincerely appreciate Fidelity Bank for counting the Abeokuta community worthy of benefiting from this noble initiative. This gesture reflects a genuine compassion and a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable members of society.
