Moniepoint Inc. has unveiled its inaugural Impact Report, revealing how increased access to formal credit is fueling the growth of Nigeria’s vibrant micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The report underscores the company’s pivotal role in supporting more than eight million jobs across the country, reinforcing its position as a catalyst for financial empowerment.

Titled “Creating Financial Happiness’, the report showcases Moniepoint’s evolution into a comprehensive financial ecosystem serving over 20 million businesses and individuals, with a staggering $250 billion in annual transaction value processed.

In 2025 alone, Moniepoint disbursed over $700 million in loans to MSMEs, addressing Nigeria’s estimated $32.2 billion funding gap for small businesses. Notably, three out of every four businesses receiving loans from Moniepoint were accessing formal credit for the very first time — a testament to the company’s innovative approach.

Leveraging transaction data to assess cash flow and creditworthiness rather than relying solely on collateral, Moniepoint has made financing more accessible for small businesses. As a result, businesses that accessed its credit recorded a 36% increase in average transaction value, contributing to the support of over eight million jobs during the year.

The report also highlights a significant rise in lending to women entrepreneurs, with women accounting for 36% of the loan portfolio in 2025 — a growth of over 300%. Moreover, 62% of women borrowers received their first formal business loan through Moniepoint, marking a milestone for financial inclusion.

On the digital front, the report emphasizes the company’s commitment to reaching underserved customers. Customers without smartphones completed transactions worth over $170 million via Moniepoint’s USSD banking service. Additionally, Moniepoint’s point-of-sale terminals now operate across all 774 local government areas of Nigeria, facilitating payment services for approximately 100 million people.

The impact on quality of life is equally compelling, with 83% of surveyed customers affirming their improved standard of living thanks to Moniepoint services, and 85% expressing greater confidence in achieving their financial goals.

Speaking about the report, Tosin Eniolorunda, Co-Founder and Group CEO of Moniepoint, emphasized the company’s mission to make financial services accessible to every African. “75% of businesses that received Moniepoint loans in 2025 had never previously accessed formal business credit,” he stated. “We have also significantly expanded lending to women-owned businesses.”

Eniolorunda highlighted the positive outcomes of these initiatives, noting, “The investments are already yielding positive results, with businesses that accessed Moniepoint credit recording a 36% increase in transaction value while enterprises on our platform now support more than eight million jobs.”

Beyond Nigeria, Moniepoint’s footprint has expanded into East Africa through the acquisition of Sumac Microfinance Bank in Kenya. The company also launched Moniebook, a platform integrating payments, bookkeeping, and inventory management tailored for small businesses.

Committed to community development, Moniepoint continues to invest in education, entrepreneurship, and social initiatives such as Women in Tech and DreamDevs. The company also supports financial literacy programs and government-backed food distribution efforts, reaching over 800,000 people in northern Nigeria.

Today, Moniepoint employs more than 3,300 people across 10 countries and has received international recognition, including being named among TIME’s 100 Most Influential Companies in 2025 and listed among the Financial Times’ Africa’s Fastest-Growing Companies.
