NIPOST Sports and Social Club Elects New Excos

NIPOST Sports and Social Club has elected new National Executive Council members that would steer the affairs of the club following the expiration of the tenure of Mallam Abubakar Danlami Usman-led administration.

They were elected recently at the club’s 11th National Delegates Conference held on 6th December 2023 at the Edinan Hotels, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Barrister Segun Sangotayo emerged as the National President while Mallam Ibrahim Musa was elected 1st Vice President and
Osuntola Eunice Ameewa was elected 2nd Vice President.

Other elected executive members include Aminu Maidanau Suleiman – National Secretary,
Gabriel Ekpa -assistant national Secretary, Onyewenu Lucky Ishioma – Treasure, TaiwoFanijo- Financial Secretary, Larry Ossai- Assistant Financial Secretary, Princess OlubunmiArowoduye- Social Secretary, and Comfort Jasper- Assistant Social Secretary.

They also include OsitaOgochukwu- Publicity Secretary, NwokeEzechinmereOlatunji – Assistant Publicity Secretary, Garba Audi – National Sports Coordinator, Azowenu Esther Nkechi – Assistant Sports Coordinator Female, ErugoChigozie – Assistant Sports Coordinator Male, Aleburu Augustine – National Auditor, Emmanuel Agbonjator Esq.- Legal Adviser, Comrade OgbotenOwesi Lucky – NUPTE Representative, and Comrade Kingsley Iyekekpolor – SSA Representative.

The Postmaster General of the Federation/CEO, Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), Ms. TolaOdeyemi, who was represented by Engineer Suleiman Bomboy, Director of Engineering and Technical Service urged the new executives to be goal-driven and come up with more initiatives that will be of benefit to members and also work to ensure that NIPOST continues to be the leading postal agency globally.

Similarly, the immediate past National President, Mallam Abubakar Danlami Usman, during his valedictory speech, tasked the new executives to be transparent and run an inclusive government that caters to the welfare of members, adding that they should aim to surpass the achievements of past administrations.

Reeling out some of the achievements of his administration, he pointed out that “I vividly recall that the distinguished delegates, at the 10″‘ Delegates conference held in Ibadan Oyo State on 4” December 2020 gave us the mandate to carry on and to Bequeaths to the Club a new constitution following the restructuring of the Organization into States and the collapse of the Zonal structure. We pursued and discharged our mandate vigorously and assiduously.

“We came into office with a plan for commitment fairness, accountability, and transparency, and by the Special grace of God we have covered a considerable part of the field, we have continued with the payment of check-off deductions to Branches financial support were extended to staff members involved in one calamity or the other, unforeseen and unnatural occurrences including assisting in offsetting medical bills for sick cases as well as members involved in other serious cases. We paid the “Widow’s mite” for our deceased members as and when due.

“As a climax, we yet again organized one of the best Sports Festivals in the annals of the Club lbadan 2020, social night was organized to crown the lbadan 2022 Sports Festival. On management of the accounts of the Club, we have been transparent and frugal as much as possible knowing fully well that we stand in a fiduciary relationship to the Club members. Let me emphasize and reiterate here that for those of us aspiring to hold positions at either NEC or SEC, we should be guided by the principles of uprightness, integrity, fear of God, and service to members.”

NIPOST Sports and Social Club also organizes a biennial event called NIPOST Sports Festival where talented sportsmen and women of the agency assemble to compete for honours in various sporting events.
