Rotary Club of Maryland Ikeja Celebrates Milestone with Smart Classroom Donation and Community Initiatives

The Rotary Club of Maryland Ikeja has concluded plans to welcome Rotary International District 9111 Governor, Rotarian Bukola Bakare, on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, for a day of impactful community service and celebrations.

According to Rotarian Seye Arowolo, President of the Rotary Club of Maryland Ikeja, the District Governor will officiate the commissioning of a newly donated smart classroom at Immaculate Heart Junior High School, Maryland, Lagos, at 12:30 pm. The programme will also include the inauguration of two new Interact Clubs and the supervision of planting a baobab tree, imported from Lomé during the last West Africa Project Fair, within the school premises.

He further shared that as part of their community outreach, a courtesy visit will be paid to the Baale of Mende Community at 2:30 pm.

“To mark Rotary International’s theme for July on maternal and child health,” he added, “children in Mende, Maryland will receive Polio vaccinations, alongside the distribution of pregnancy kits for mothers. The day will conclude with a tree-planting initiative aimed at improving the environment at Mende Primary Health Centre, Lagos, at 3:30 pm.”

In addition, Rotarian Lekan Olubajo, Past President of the Club, noted that the Board Meeting and District Governor’s visit, coinciding with the first fellowship of the Rotary year, will take place between 7 pm and 9 pm.

Activities during the fellowship include the induction of six new members, recognition of major donors and Paul Harris Fellows to the Rotary Foundation, micro-credit donations, and a homecoming reception for the immediate past District Governor, Rotarian Prince Henry Akinyele.

Rotarian Oluseye Arowolo, Impact President of the Clubs serving in Rotary Year 2026-2027, called on fellow Rotarians, philanthropists, and friends of Rotary to join in what promises to be a significant and impactful event hosted by the Rotary Club of Maryland Ikeja.
