Standard Chartered Partners with AllianzGI to Introduce Gold Income Fund for Global Clients

The new Signature Select Enhanced Gold Income Fund uniquely combines gold exposure with income-generating strategies. By investing in gold exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and employing a covered call approach, the fund aims to provide investors with steady income streams while capitalizing on gold’s long-term appreciation potential. Recognized as a resilient alternative asset with low correlation to traditional markets, gold serves as a vital component in diversifying portfolios and enhancing stability during geopolitical, monetary, and market uncertainties.
With over 700 investment professionals globally (as of 31 March 2026), AllianzGI brings extensive scale, expertise, and institutional strength to this initiative. The Global Multi Asset Team, responsible for options selection and daily portfolio management, possesses deep experience in portfolio construction, derivatives, and risk management—ensuring a sophisticated approach to multi-asset investing across market cycles.
This fund is accessible to Accredited and Professional Investors within Standard Chartered’s Priority, Priority Private, and Private Banking segments across Hong Kong, Singapore, the UAE, Jersey, Kenya, and Nigeria starting this month, with Taiwan’s launch slated for later this year.
Sumeet Bhambri, Global Head of Advisory and Managed Investments, Wealth Solutions at Standard Chartered, shared: “We are pleased to partner with Allianz Global Investors, whose global investment expertise strengthens our latest VCC fund. As clients seek greater diversification amid an increasingly uncertain market environment, the fund provides access to a differentiated strategy that combines gold’s portfolio diversification benefits with enhanced income potential. The launch reflects our commitment to enhancing our wealth platform through strategic partnerships and delivering innovative solutions that support clients on their wealth journey, while reinforcing Standard Chartered’s position as a leading international wealth manager.”
Marc Gualandi, Head of Global Banks at AllianzGI, added: “We are delighted to partner with Standard Chartered to bring the Signature Select Enhanced Gold Income Fund to clients across its international wealth network. We believe gold can play an important role as a long-term allocation within a well-diversified portfolio. The fund is designed to participate in gold’s long-term value proposition and generate income through an active options strategy. Leveraging our expertise in income strategies, portfolio construction, and risk management, we seek to help investors pursue both income and long-term portfolio resilience.”
Since launching its VCC platform in June 2024, Standard Chartered has been harnessing synergies with top-tier fund managers and its own global asset class specialists to craft exclusive, hard-to-access investment strategies. This initiative underscores the Bank’s dedication to delivering innovative wealth solutions through strategic partnerships. To date, this is the ninth sub-fund launched under the platform and the fourth in 2026, reaffirming the Bank’s leadership in wealth management innovation.
