Group Urges NNPCL Boss to Respond to Corruption Claims Impacting Company’s Reputation

The Nigerian Transparency Initiative (NTI) has called on Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), to publicly respond to recent corruption allegations leveled against him.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, Muyiwa Salami, NTI coordinator, emphasized that the ongoing controversies surrounding Ojulari’s leadership are serious and cannot be ignored. He warned that remaining silent could further fuel public suspicion and undermine confidence in the national oil company.

“Mr. Ojulari must address these allegations transparently. Silence in this matter only suggests that there may be something to hide,” Salami stated.

The group acknowledged that some have dismissed the claims as political blackmail by vested interests. However, NTI asserted that the persistent and widespread nature of the reports calls for accountability and clarity.

“It is in Ojulari’s best interest, and in the interest of Nigerians, that he responds to these allegations. Transparency is essential to maintain the integrity of his office and restore public trust,” the statement added.

Furthermore, NTI urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other relevant authorities to intensify investigations into the matter, stressing that Nigerians deserve full disclosure on issues involving billions of naira in public resources.
