L-R: Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, DG, ARCON; Mallam Balarabe Ilela, DG, NBC; Maryam Apaokagi-Greene a.k.a Taaooma, Content Creator;; and Femi Adelusi, President, MIPAN.

The Nigerian Electronic Media Content Exhibition and Awards (NEMCEA) is set to hold from August 22 to 24, 2023 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

Experts and stakeholders in the value chain of electronic content creation are set to speak at the second edition of the event

According to the organizers, the Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN), the erudite speakers and panelists will speak on the event theme “Reviving the Broadcast Media Industry- the Role of Stakeholders (Content Producers, Broadcast Media, and Advertisers)” and other industry issues on Day 1 and Day 2 of the conference while the awards will hold on Day 3. The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru will deliver the keynote address and also declare the event open.

Some of the speakers and panelists include Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, DG, Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON); Somnath Malakar, CEO, Zee World for Sub-Saharan Africa and Indian Ocean Islands; Obi Asika, Creative Entrepreneur; Mallam Balarabe Ilela, DG, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC); Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos, DG, Nigerian Television Authority (NTA); Alhaji Adedayo Thomas, CEO/DG, National Film And Video Censors Board (NFVCB). Also, the Heads of Advertising Sectoral Groups (HASG) will be speaking which includes Femi Adelusi, President, Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN); Osamede Uwubanwen, President, Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN); and Steve Babaeko, President, Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN).

Other experts are Dr. Tunji Sotimirin; Jonadab Egbowon; Jaiye Ojo, Founder/Chief Executive, XLNT Media Ltd; Obinna Okereokocha, Director of Content, Moniepoint Incorporated; Shileola Ibironke, MD, Micromedia Group of Companies; Chief Emeka Ossai, BOT Member, EMCOAN; Jibe Ologeh, President, EMCOAN; Nneka Isaac-Moses; Franca Aiyetan, Director, Broadcast Monitoring, NBC; Dr. Adeleye Fabusoro; Ayobami Olugbenga Wyse, Content Creator; Maryam Apaokagi-Greene a.k.a Taaooma; Omolade Omotayo, Head of Business & Strategy, Kraks Media; amongst others.

Speaking on what informed the theme of the event and other industry topics that will be dissected at the conference, the Project Director of NEMCEA 2023; Alayande Stephen said “The idea is to continue to engage stakeholders from the entire chain value system of the business. The Electronic media business with a bias to TV, Radio, and Online is still very big and massive in Nigeria but we need to look at different business models across the broad spectrum of different platforms that the digital space and technology have afforded us today. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has come to stay as part of our lives as human beings, how do we then tap into such for our businesses and maximize the global revolution? The importance of Audience Measurement once again comes into play as one of the most important elements to determine real-time with data-driven proof, the numbers of eyeballs/audiences watching a particular programme across different platforms.

“This will further help the Advertisers (ADVAN), Advertising Agencies (MIPAN), Broadcasters (BON, IBAN), Regulators (ARCON, NBC), and Content Owners & Producers (EMCOAN, ITPAN), Content Distributors & Aggregators, etc. to correctly situate programming and content that resonates with the audience, thereby increasing geometrically the advertising spend in Nigeria. These amongst many others are on the table for consideration and discourse in this year’s event.”
