Former Attorney General of Louisiana, Charles C. Foti, Jr., Esq., a partner at the law firm of Kahn Swick & Foti, LLC (“KSF”), announces that KSF has commenced an investigation into Yahoo! Inc.

On December 14, 2016, Yahoo disclosed that an unauthorized third party stole data associated with more than one billion user accounts in August 2013. The stolen user account information may have included names, email addresses, telephone numbers, and dates of birth, hashed passwords (using MD5) and, in some cases, encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers. Yahoo further stated that it has not been able to identify the intrusion associated with this theft, but that it believes this incident is likely distinct from the hacking incident it disclosed on September 22, 2016.
