Brenda Nwagwu Makes History as MIPAN’s First Female President

Brenda Nwagwu, founder and CEO of QVT Media, has achieved a historic milestone as the first female President of the Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN). Her election took place during the 2026 Annual General Meeting held in Ogun State, marking a significant moment in the association’s more than two-decade history.

Nwagwu succeeded outgoing President Dozie Okafor, paving the way for increased gender representation and diversity within Nigeria’s media industry. Her appointment underscores a growing shift toward inclusive leadership, aligning with broader industry trends emphasizing equity and representation.

As the immediate past Vice President of MIPAN, she also serves as Managing Director of Leeds Production Nigeria. With over 20 years of experience across marketing communications, financial services, and technology, Nwagwu has collaborated with prominent global agencies such as Media Reach OMD and All Seasons Mediacom, demonstrating her extensive expertise and leadership in the field.

A passionate advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, Nwagwu actively promotes these values in her professional and community engagements. She is a consultant and facilitator specializing in audience measurement, communications strategy, and media planning, and contributes as faculty at Alphabet Media Academy and Digify Africa.

Nwagwu’s professional credentials include being a fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN). She also holds board positions at several companies, including Leeds Production Nigeria, Shuttabox Nigeria, Adcontinuum, and ICAP Technologies Limited. Her involvement extends beyond business, as she actively participates in community development and women empowerment initiatives.

Her ascension to the MIPAN presidency is anticipated to bring a wealth of experience in media, marketing communications, and business leadership, further strengthening the association’s role as a driver of innovation and diversity within Nigeria’s marketing and media landscape
