COVID-19: PR Practitioner Urges FG to Prevent Sabotage of Palliatives
An Abuja based Public Relations and Strategic Communication expert, Ogunko Oluwaseyi, CEO/Principal Partner, SwiftSodium Solutions Limited, has urged the federal government to prevent the sabotage of the palliatives met to alleviate the pains of citizens.
He made this known, following the federal government’s announcement of two weeks extension to restrict movement in some parts of the country (Lagos State, Ogun State and FCT, Abuja), starting from Tuesday 14th of April 2020, as a way to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
“I beseech Governments at all level that they should please try harder in the areas of providing palliatives and also do proper monitoring to ensure that those items gets directly to the set of people that are meant to benefit from it.
“Though it has come to our notice that some individuals are sabotaging Government’s efforts as regards sharing of the palliatives, but I plead with them to please desist from such despicable act and support government at all levels so that our people are not killed by hunger under lockdown,” he disclosed.
In addition, he commended Nigerians for adhering to the government’s directives to stay at home, “Nigerians deserve to be commended for adhering to the directives of the government in the last two weeks and also welcoming the decision of the government to extend the lockdown in good faith despite the level of hardship many are going through. Our strong believe is that this will not last forever and by the grace of God, we will have good testimonies to share as a United Nigeria.
“This message is coming at this time to all well-meaning Nigerian and the world at large as an encouragement that this trying time will not last forever and that we shall overcome the deadly pandemic known as COVID-19, provided we continue to follow all precautionary measures during the lockdown period.”
Furthermore, he explained, “This is a trying time for the world at large and as a people who desire to see the end of this deadly pandemic, we must be able to pay the sacrifices that comes with it and one of it is by adhering to Government directives so that we can all work together to get rid of this virus.
“COVID-19 has made us change our ways of doing things in the recent past, our usual manner of living and interacting with people has changed drastically. It has subjected us to live in fear and despair in the last few months.
“But the good news I bring to you today is that it is not going to last forever, provided we cooperate with Government in combating it.
“I implore us to continue adhering to all the precautionary measures that has been communicated to us via all the relevant government agencies and as well observe our environments and ensure we keep them clean. One thing I am confident about is that, In the end, victory is ours and we shall have the last laugh.
“There had been cases in the past that had threatened the world just like this Covid19, but surprisingly it became a thing of the past, through cooperation and joint efforts of government at all level. I can remember vividly the case of Ebola and how it appeared as if the end has come, but today Ebola has become history due to the sacrifices paid by some individuals coupled with Governments effort. By the grace of God, COVID-19 too shall become history and we shall hug again and be close to ourselves in our usual gatherings.
“Social distancing among ourselves will only be for a while. We shall rise to our normal lives again as a people.”
