The Lagos State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) proudly joins the global community in honoring International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, under the inspiring theme “Accelerate Action.”

This theme highlights the pressing necessity to promote gender equality, challenge the sluggish pace of change, and empower women and girls across the globe.

In the realms of public relations and strategic communication, there exists a significant opportunity to shape narratives, influence policies, and advocate for a society where women can excel. At Lagos NIPR, we take pride in witnessing women in leadership roles within various organizations throughout Lagos, as they shatter barriers and instigate meaningful transformations.

During discussions surrounding this year’s theme, Mrs. Comfort Obot Nwankwo, Chairman of Lagos NIPR, stressed the critical need for actionable steps towards gender inclusivity: “Achieving gender equality is not merely a moral obligation but a strategic necessity for sustainable development. As communicators, we have the responsibility to utilize our platforms to elevate women’s voices, confront stereotypes, and advocate for policies that promote inclusivity both in workplaces and society.”

Mrs. Nwankwo continued, “At Lagos NIPR, we celebrate the invaluable contributions of women in public relations and beyond. We are dedicated to fostering impactful dialogues that propel us toward a more equitable future.”

She urged businesses, government entities, and media organizations to actively champion gender equality—not just through rhetoric but by implementing decisive actions that yield lasting change.
