As part of its corporate social responsibility, the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers ( NSChe), a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers ( NSE) donated a borehole water treatment plant to the Destitute Empowerment Community at 8 Makanjuola Close, Paiko Idimu, Lagos.

According to Engineer Tony Ogheneovo, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE), “the water treatment and purification project was installed for use to improve the standard of living of the beneficiaries as part of NSChE corporate social responsibility initiative.

He further disclosed that NSChE shall be responsible for the maintenance of the borehole, and appealed to philanthropic individuals and bodies to support the state and local govt efforts for safe water to reach more vulnerable girls and boys who are cut off from safe and clean water because they live in places where water is untreated or polluted, living on the streets or without a home.

Engr Ogheneovo added that NSChe is partnering with the government and bodies like UNICEF to facilitate access to safe and clean water in informal settlements in Lagos.

His words ” provision of treated water is fundamental to fighting water-borne diseases and preserving the health and well-being of millions of residents in vulnerability” Ogheneovo said.
