OAAN Holds 39th AGM in Ibadan, Unveils Lolu Akinwunmi as Keynote Speaker

The Out-of-Home Advertising Association of Nigeria (OAAN) has announced that veteran advertising practitioner, Lolu Akinwunmi will be the guest speaker at its 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will be held in Ibadan, Oyo State where he will be speaking on the theme “Redefining OOH Media in Nigeria: The Practice, The Business and Value Creation”.
The association during a press briefing held at its secretariat, OAAN House, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos revealed that the AGM tagged “Oluyoye 2024” will kick off with a lecture on Friday;16™ August 2024 at the De Signature Towers, Ibadan, Oyo State while other activities will follow suit.
Speaking on the choice of the theme; ‘Sola Akinsiku, OAAN President said the AGM comes at a time when the association and stakeholders are looking for new ways to redefine and reposition the OOH Media industry in the country. The guest speaker considering his wealth of experience will share insights on trends that are shaping and will shape the industry.
He explained further that the AGM will mark the first year of the two-year term of the current OAAN executives.
“The theme is borne out of our desire to constantly and regularly review and examine the out-of-home media ecosystem in line with prevailing exigencies with a view to making our sub-sector of the national economy continuously relevant, responsive in all areas of our engagements, and respected by our critical stakeholders. In the main, it will also be a time to present our scorecard, and give an account of our stewardship to our members, and to, as it were, receive further directives on their desired goals for another year.,” he stated.

Akinsiku said beyond the Guest Speaker, the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde and other top government officials in the state will grace the event. Other expected dignitaries are leaders of the various sectors of the Nigerian economy. They include the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) Dr.Olalekan Fadolapo, Heads of the Advertising Sectoral Groups (HASG), and the Chief Executives of the Advertisement & Signage Agencies.
According to him, “He (Lolu Akinwunmi) has graciously accepted our invitation to share with us his professional brilliance. We are very proud to have him as our Guest Speaker. Dignitaries expected at the opening session include the governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde, who is our Distinguished Special Guest, and other top functionaries of the government of the State. The leaders of the various sectors of the Nigerian economy, relevant to our practice and business are also expected to join us. They include the Director-General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) Dr.Olalekan Fadolapo, frpa, Heads of the Advertising Sectoral Groups (HASG), and the Chief Executives of the Advertisement & Signage Agencies.”

Akinsiku urged all stakeholders to be part of the forthcoming AGM, pointing out that “Our avowed commitment is to truly redefine and reposition OOH Media Asset ownership and engagement in our dearly beloved country, Nigeria, in the overall best interest of all critical stakeholders”.
The Guest Speaker, Lolu Akinwunmi is the Chairman/Chief ExecutiveOfficer of Prima Garnet Africa, a veteran practitioner in Advertising, an erudite scholar, a prolific commentator on issues relevant to all aspects of media engagements in our country today, and one of the pillars and leading lights in the industry in Africa. He is a foremost fellow of the advertising industry in Nigeria, a past president of the Association of Advertising |Agencies in Nigeria (AAAN), and a past Chairman of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, APCON (now ARCON).
