Showmax Nigeria Originals Secure 8 Nominations at 11th AMVCAs

The nominees for the 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) have been unveiled, showcasing a strong presence from Showmax Nigeria Originals. The series Princess on a Hill, Cheta M, and Style Magnate collectively earned eight nominations across six categories.

Leading the nominations is the corporate drama Princess on a Hill, which received five nods, including Best Scripted Series and Best Editing, with Laughter Ephraim and Peter Ugbede recognized for their work. The series also earned Best Writing TV Series nominations for Bibi Ukpo, Niyi Adeniji, and Sonia Nwosu. Notably, Bimbo Manuel received his first AMVCA nomination for Best Lead Actor, while Efa Iwara is nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

Continuing its success in the scripted drama arena, Cheta M, directed by James Omokwe, secured two nominations: Best Scripted Series and Best Writing TV Series for Ifeanyi Chidi Barbara.

In the unscripted category, the fashion and design show Style Magnate received a nomination for Best Unscripted Series, showcasing Showmax’s diverse programming.

These nominations highlight a change in the AMVCAs’ approach, recognizing both established and emerging talents who have delivered outstanding performances over the past year.

Voting is now open and will continue until May 4, 2025, via the Africa Magic website. The awards feature 18 non-voting and 9 audience voting categories, along with special recognition awards: the Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer Awards. Non-voting categories will be judged by a panel led by renowned filmmaker Femi Odugbemi.

The awards ceremony is set for Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Lagos, Nigeria, and will be broadcast live on Africa Magic channels.
