What You Need to Know About New NIPR President
Ike Neliaku was recently elected the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to steer the affairs of the council alongside his executives for the next two years .
He pulled the highest number of votes of
830 against Nkechi Ali-Balogun who had
375 votes at the election held on August 24 at NAF Suites, Abuja.
In his acceptance speech, Neliaku said “Our profession need a new a dimension. We’ll make sure PR is practiced by PR Professionals. We won’t allow our ‘break fast’ to be taken by people that are not trained.
“We’ll take the issue of compliance and enforcement seriously, reinvent our profession for the purpose and the value of the nation.
“Countries that understand the value of the Public Relations always excel , so therefore we are going to rebrand Nigeria.
“As we have our colleague as Minister of Information, who understands strategic communications. We’ll work with him to generate new ideas with support of my team.
“I want to assure that with our collective efforts, we can rewrite, reinvent and review our profession for better in this new dawn,” he concluded.
ke Neliaku is a consummate Public Relations Practitioner, Development Administrator, Real Estate Developer, and Researcher. He worked in the federal public service for over 20 years, holding key positions in Federal Ministries and The Presidency at different times
Dr Neliaku has travelled to over 45 countries as a member of various federal government delegations and participated in more than 55 technical missions on sustainable development; information and communication management; negotiations, conciliation and diplomacy; cultural relations; public sector ad- ministration; infrastructure development; leadership and management development; gender equity and empowerment; youth development; etc. He served variously as Chairman, Technical Coordinator, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Member, of over 37 specialized committees at various times while in the service of the Federal Government of Nigeria. He also served as a Member Governing Board, Federal University Gusau, Zamfara State.
