Jetour T1, T2, G700 Conquer Lagos Terrain as WMotors Positions Nigeria at Centre of Africa Expedition

Jetour WMotors, the official distributor of Jetour vehicles in Nigeria, has leveraged the 2026 Jetour Africa Expedition to showcase the performance, versatility and off-road capability of the brand’s T1, T2 and G700 models, while using the pan-African initiative to spotlight Nigeria as a strategic market for the Chinese automotive brand.

The Lagos leg of the expedition saw eight Jetour vehicles navigate a 128-kilometre route that blended urban mobility, lifestyle experiences and a demanding off-road challenge, offering participants a firsthand demonstration of the vehicles’ ability to handle diverse driving conditions.

Beyond the vehicle showcase, the expedition provided Jetour WMotors with an opportunity to project Lagos and Nigeria to an international audience, reinforcing the country’s growing importance in Jetour’s expansion strategy across Africa.

The 2026 Jetour Africa Expedition, a Pan-African lifestyle and adventure initiative designed around exploration, mobility, community and adventure, commenced in Egypt on July 19, 2026, and is covering 12 African countries, with each participating market contributing its own cultural and geographical experience to the continental journey.

In Lagos, favourable weather conditions on Sunday, August 9, provided the backdrop for the local leg of the expedition, which was flagged off in front of the Jetour WMotors showroom on Adeyemi Alakija Street, Victoria Island.

From Victoria Island, the convoy moved through some of Lagos’ notable landmarks and business districts, including Lekki Market, the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, Freedom Park, the National Theatre, Ahmadu Bello Way and the Third Mainland Bridge, before heading towards the Ikorodu off-road circuit.

While the urban segment of the journey highlighted the vehicles’ suitability for everyday mobility and lifestyle driving, the off-road challenge near Ikorodu emerged as the defining test of the expedition.

There, the T1, T2 and G700 were subjected to steep slopes, bumps, uneven surfaces and other demanding terrain designed to test their power, control, durability and four-wheel-drive capabilities.

The exercise provided participants with a practical demonstration of the vehicles beyond their exterior appeal, allowing them to experience how the models responded to difficult terrain while retaining the comfort, performance and adventure characteristics associated with the Jetour brand.

Speaking to journalists during the expedition, the Managing Director of Jetour WMotors, Tony Jamal, said the initiative was conceived to demonstrate the capability, safety, luxury and adventure attributes of Jetour vehicles while highlighting the potential of the Nigerian automotive market.

According to him, the carefully selected Lagos routes were intended to achieve two objectives: demonstrate the versatility of the vehicles and present different facets of Lagos to an international audience.

Jamal said the off-road component was particularly significant because it created an opportunity for the appropriate Jetour 4×4 models to prove their capabilities under demanding conditions.

“We also showcased the capacity of Jetour, with the off-road experience of the 4×4 models. They have a 2.0 (turbocharged) engine with Euro 6, that is the most advanced engine, low fuel consumption and high torque. It shows us what Jetour can do,” he said.

Nigeria’s Strategic Position
For WMotors, however, the expedition was about more than vehicle performance. It also served as a platform to strengthen Nigeria’s visibility within Jetour’s broader African expansion and demonstrate to the manufacturer in China the scale of opportunity available in the Nigerian market.

Jamal said the company’s growing presence across the country was underpinned by the confidence placed in WMotors by Jetour and the growing acceptance of its vehicles and services among Nigerian consumers.

“Jetour is all over Nigeria now. We have a big trust and we have to thank God that Jetour trusts us as the official distributor. The people appreciate our services and our vehicles come directly from the factory (and not made for other markets),” he said.

He disclosed that Jetour China appointed WMotors as its official distributor in Nigeria, with the mandate to organise the Nigerian leg of the continental expedition.
The development underscores the increasingly competitive nature of Nigeria’s automotive market, where vehicle distributors are seeking to differentiate their brands not only through product offerings but also through customer experience, lifestyle engagement and after-sales support.

Beyond the Vehicle
The Lagos expedition also incorporated a community and road-safety dimension.

As the convoy moved through selected parts of the city, participants distributed road-safety awareness materials to motorists and other road users, while hydration support was provided to members of the public, including motorists, with Bigi Premium Drinking Water supporting the initiative.

The event commenced with a high-energy fitness and mobility warm-up session at the Jetour showroom, conducted by professional trainers from I-Fitness, while Frootaz provided refreshments for participants.

These activities broadened the expedition beyond a conventional automotive test drive, reinforcing Jetour WMotors’ attempt to associate the brand with mobility, wellness, community engagement and responsible motoring.

Looking Beyond 2026
With the 2026 expedition serving as a platform for both product demonstration and market engagement, WMotors is already looking towards an expanded edition next year.

Jamal disclosed that the 2027 expedition would be significantly larger, extending beyond Africa and attracting participants from China, with a stronger focus on off-road driving and the introduction of new Jetour models.

“It will be a bigger event in 2027 and it will be more than Africa. We are preparing and people will come from China, especially for the off-road experience. Next year, we will also have new models and it will be shown in Jetour WMotors showrooms,” he said.

The planned expansion signals Jetour WMotors’ ambition to transform the expedition from a regional lifestyle activation into a broader international platform capable of connecting the Nigerian market with Jetour’s global ecosystem.

Warranty as a Competitive Edge
Beyond vehicle design, performance and technology, after-sales support remains a critical consideration in Nigeria’s automotive market, particularly as consumers increasingly evaluate the total cost of vehicle ownership.

Against this backdrop, Jamal reaffirmed WMotors’ commitment to providing customers with what the company describes as a robust after-sales package, anchored by a seven-year, unlimited-mileage warranty across its Jetour models.

The warranty is positioned as a major component of the company’s customer value proposition, providing buyers with greater confidence in long-term ownership while differentiating Jetour in an increasingly competitive market.

For Jetour WMotors, therefore, the Lagos leg of the Africa Expedition represented more than an off-road adventure. It was a strategic demonstration of what the brand believes it can offer Nigerian motorists—performance across challenging terrain, modern design and technology, lifestyle appeal and long-term ownership support.

As Jetour continues to expand its footprint in Nigeria, the expedition also offered a broader message: that the country is not merely another destination in the brand’s African expansion, but an increasingly important market capable of serving as a gateway for deeper engagement between Jetour’s global operations and the continent.
